Rigging Training
Fundamentals of Rigging Training -
As part of our Value-Added proposition, Holloway Houston provides "Fundamentals of Rigging Safety" training seminars at NO COST to either existing or prospective clients. We see it as an investment in people's knowledge and understanding, with a focus on risk management. Our goal is to provide you and your employees with a better understanding of properly selecting, inspecting, and using rigging gear. These training seminars are available at our facilities or yours, in English or Spanish.

The Purpose of ASME Standards
- Guard against and minimize injury to workers and otherwise provide for the protection of life, limb, and property by prescribing safety requirements
- Provide Direction to owners, employers, supervisors, and others.
- Guide government and other regulatory bodies in the development, promulgation, and enforcement of appropriate safety directives
DNV Certification
We are proud to have contributed to the first DNV project in the United States. Through our long-established relationship with DNV (Det Norske Veritas), Holloway Houston presently fabricates over 90% of the DNV class slings built in the Western Hemisphere. We perform most of the DNVwitnessed pull testing on pad eyes and other weldments, synthetics, and umbilicals of various types. DNV surveyors are on-site at Holloway at most given times.
We have extensive expertise in the following DNV Certification programs:

To support DNV requirements, We have programs that design the slings and prepare the DNV engineering submission. In most cases, there is no charge for this service.
In order to properly support all of our testing programs and reduce our customers' transportation costs, we also provide the following services & facilities:
- The only API Q1 sling shop in the world
- Operations are compliant with both API's American and European ISOs
- European CE markings on documents if required
- In-house crane support for loading/unloading testbeds and trucks
- In-house Technical Services, designers, and drafters available for assistance
- On-site meetings and working space are available upon request
- Access via our ProCert certificate retrieval system to Test Certs, C of C's, MTRs, PODs, anytime, anywhere
With more than 13 testbeds and hundreds of Load Cells and Links available on site, Holloway Houston' Testing Services department offers an array of testing options with the following capabilities:
- Rapid, high load capacity cycling
- Capacities to 5,000 m tonnes
- Testbed lengths through 400 feet (122 m)
- Real-time charting
- Video capture of tests
- Remote viewing of testing using a live stream via HHI Live.

Inspection & Repair
The testing and Repair division offers a full range of inspections, repairs, and testing on a wide variety of equipment. We also service most types of lifting equipment, including chains, slings, plate clamps, chain falls, come-along, load cells, blocks, and more.
Further services include:
- In-house machining and fabrication services

- In-house welding by experienced, certified welders
- Liquid penetrant testing
- Pad eye visual inspection & proof testing

Our certified and experienced technicians perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing on shackles, blocks, elevator links, pad eyes, spreader bars, and many other product assemblies.
We also provide annual or semi-annual inspections and recertification following applicable regulatory agency and company guidelines.
Magnetic Particle Testing, MPT, is a relatively simple test method that can be applied to finished articles, hot-rolled bars, castings, and forgings. It can also be used to check that the processing operations, such as heat treating and machining, and grinding, did not uncover or cause discontinuities.
Because magnetization of certain metals is possible, small particles that are attracted to magnetic fields are applied to the surface of the test object after or during induction of a magnetic field, thereby detecting certain discontinuities (variations in material composition) economically. While one of the most used nondestructive testing methods, magnetic particle testing is limited to disclosing surface or near-surface indications.
NDT Inspectors maintain Level II certifications following SNTTC-1A standards.
Holloway Houston is the official authorized service and repair facility for:

Solid Weight Proof Load Testing
Holloway Houston supplies modular solid weights for the proof load testing of:

- Man-lifts
- Mobile cranes
- Maritime cranes
- Overhead cranes
- Spreader beams
- Special heavy-lift equipment
Available in 100 tons or less, the baskets can be used in tandem for heavier lifts
